Passion Project Management 101
You’ve got multiple side projects, here’s how to get things done

“Count yourself blessed if you have something you love to do, but you rarely do it because you’re too busy doing something else you love even more.” ― Josh Steimle
If I’m hearing things correctly, most of us are obsessed with time management. We crave productivity hacks that will help us get the most out of each day.
We have jobs, families, responsibilities, and our pesky need for sleep, which all require our attention. Those of us with the audacity to have passion projects — hobbies, side hustles, writing projects, volunteer work — are in even greater need of a method to manage our time.
There is also a rare class of people who have multiple passion projects.
It’s the school teacher who wants to learn the violin and volunteer at the animal shelter. The accountant who wants to write a screenplay and start a small catering service. The stay-at-home parent who wants to plant a rooftop garden and memorize the book of Hebrews.
The ability to manage multiple passion projects starts by giving yourself permission to have multiple interests.
Permission to Have Various Interests
We do not pick our passion projects. Our passion projects pick us. Hobbies, business ideas, philanthropy alike are often the result of a deep-seated need. A desire for adventure, to right a wrong or earn more money.
Side interests often provoke the voice of resistance, which says, “You don’t have time for that. Who are you to do that? You should really be more practical.”
If you want to make time for your passion projects, you must first give yourself permission to have various interests. You are not just a professional, employee, caretaker, parent or spouse. You are not just a writer, photographer, chef or desk worker.
You are a multi-dimensional being, unlike anything that has walked the earth before.
